How Your Moonrobe Box Is Made
Moonrobe boxes are entirely handcrafted. The process is slow, layered and precise — every step requires time to ensure the final piece is beautiful, durable and truly unique.
This page explains how long production takes, what each step involves, and why the process cannot be rushed.
Minimum 7 Days Production Time
Creating a Moonrobe box takes a minimum of 7 days. This is a natural part of the handmade process and cannot be shortened without compromising quality.
Production Steps
1. Sanding
The entire box is hand‑sanded, inside and outside, creating a smooth, even surface for painting and pyrography.
2. Interior Painting – Antique Gold
The interior receives several thin layers of Antique Gold paint. Each layer requires proper drying time.
3. Drying & Fine Sanding
Drying cannot be accelerated. Between layers, the surface is lightly sanded to achieve a flawless finish.
4. Pyrography
The hand‑burning process is the most time‑intensive step. Every line is created slowly with controlled heat. Wood is a natural material and reacts to temperature — pyrography cannot be rushed.
5. Exterior Protective Coating / Lacquer
The exterior receives multiple thin layers of lacquer. Between each layer, fine sanding is performed.
This creates the final:
- smooth,
- even,
- slightly glossy, elegant surface.
6. Hardware Installation
Hinges and clasps are installed by hand with precise alignment.
7. Final Inspection
Every box is checked carefully for surface quality, pyrography lines, paint finish, hardware alignment and overall cleanliness.
8. Packaging
As part of the Moonrobe Signature Packaging:
- inside the box, the greeting card rests on a silk‑tissue paper bed,
- the box is carefully wrapped,
- the outer packaging protects it during delivery.
Why Production Cannot Be Rushed
Handcrafted work has natural limitations:
- paint drying time is fixed,
- pyrography is slow and manual,
- wood reacts to heat and must be treated gently,
- lacquer layers need time to cure,
- quality cannot be accelerated.
